Cannes is a renowned and beautiful seaside town on the French Riviera, in the South of France.

History

This little seaside jewel has stood the test of time, becoming a desirable destination for international travellers from 1834 onwards, after Lord Brougham (former Chancellor of England) visited the town and fell in love with it, encouraging British visitors, who were soon followed by the Russian court of Tsar Alexander III, as well as European nobility.

Only 30 minutes from Nice International Airport, Cannes is a unique city blending 2 lifestyles in perfect harmony. The charming village atmosphere rooted in fabulous history and its Mediterranean past, merges seamlessly with an international presence and status as a luxury hotspot, hosting the Cannes Film Festival every year since 1946, as well as numerous other noteworthy congresses and events year round.

The lifestyle

Cannes is also famous for and much-loved by holiday-makers. The summer months are typically most popular, with tourists enjoying the long stretch of sandy beach known as Boulevard de la Croisette, gourmet restaurants, luxury boutiques, beautiful 5* hotels, and numerous activities including trips to the Iles de Lerins, into Provence and along the coast to visit neighbouring villages. Out of season however, from September to May, is equally valued by locals, and tourists alike as the weather is sunny and mild, the town quietens down and the village atmosphere emerges with local fresh food markets, warm lunches on the beach and plenty of seaside walks along the Croisette.
